Health Education

Good health is not just a matter of biology and medical care but of behavior, environment, and social conditions. WV Health Right offers an array of health education classes to assist patients in recognizing and achieving necessary life style changes to improve their overall health status. Classes include:

  • Diabetes Education
    Diabetic patients are encouraged to attend our diabetes management class. Topics include overall lifestyle changes, improved eating habits, and exercise. Classes are conducted on Mondays at 1:00 p.m. and Thursdays at noon and at 5:00 p.m. Glucose/sugar monitoring equipment and strips are provided free to patients who attend class.

  • Tobacco Cessation - PufferSnuffer
    For patients who want to quit tobacco use an 8 week class is offered on Mondays at 5:00 p.m. and on Wednesdays at 1:30 p.m. The clinic provides medications, when prescribed, free of charge. Patients can sign up for this class at the clinic.

  • Weight Management
    Need to lose weight or develop better nutrition habits? A class is conducted to help patients achieve their personal weight loss goals every Friday at 2:00 p.m. No reservations are necessary.

  • Women’s Health
    WV Health Right screens more women for breast and cervical cancer then any other clinic in the state. Services include free mammograms and education in breast self-examination. Special Women’s Health Awareness events are also scheduled throughout the year.

  • Other Classes
    In addition to the classes described above, a Support Group is conducted for patients with Hepatitis C at noon on the 1st Monday of every month.
