Two WV Health Right Volunteer Clinicians Receive Jefferson Awards!
Although the staff and patients at WV Health Right know that “volunteers make it happen”, two loyal and steadfast clinic volunteers recently received statewide recognition. Dr. Ken McNeil, a committed and valued pain management specialist and WV Health Right’s 2012 Volunteer of the Year, and Dr. Mike Sokolosky, an esteemed and accessible volunteer oral surgeon, both received the Jefferson Award for outstanding community service. The Jefferson Awards are a prestigious national recognition system honoring community and public service in America. The Awards began in 1972 to create a “Nobel Prize” for public service and today, the primary function is to serve as a “Call to Action for Volunteers” in local communities. From the beginning, the Jefferson Awards have been based on a simple and powerful idea: One person can make a difference. Both Dr. McNeil and Dr. Sokolosky personify that idea through their willingness to share their time and talents to treat the most vulnerable among us: the impoverished uninsured. Congratulations to Dr. McNeil and Dr. Sokolosky, two wonderful volunteers who “make it happen” for WV Health Right!
