WVRx™ is designed to provide prescription drugs and pharmaceutical care to the estimated 400,000 West Virginians who are uninsured or underinsured. As an outgrowth of WV Health Right’s intensive efforts to improve the uninsured/underinsured poor’s health status through access to prescription medications, WVRx™, the state’s first charitable mail order central fill pharmacy, was launched in March 2008. WV Health Right and Beckley Health Right, two of the state’s premiere free clinics, have implemented and are administering this unique public/private model. Patients who are eligible for WVRx must be between 18-64, uninsured or underinsured, have a household income of 200% or below of the Federal Poverty Level guidelines, and must be a resident of West Virginia.
